About the role
An exciting position has arisen in our Herts Valleys Integrated Musculoskeletal Service. We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and competent Consultant Rheumatologist providing specialist Rheumatology clinical support/advice to the community rheumatology clinical staff workforce. You will participate in triaging urgent cases to specialist care and manage non-urgent rheumatology patients in the community alongside stable review patients on DMARDs.
You’ll maintain a portfolio relevant to the role of a Consultant in Rheumatology and will provide expert clinical practice to the service. You’ll play a pivotal role in the integration of research evidence into practice. This will be delivered by enhancing quality in the areas of assessment, diagnosis, management and evaluation of MSK Rheumatology to improve the outcomes for patients.
Connect Health is the largest community musculoskeletal (MSK) service provider in the UK. We currently deliver 5 Rheumatology services across 5 different CCG groups, always working in partnership with local Acute Hospital Trusts to ensure integrated service delivery.

Our service in Herts Valley
Our Herts Valley service is a fully integrated MSK service that provides a single-point of access for NHS patients enabling a seamless and efficient patient journey. As part of our integrated community pathway we deliver community Physiotherapy, Pain, Podiatry, Rheumatology, Hands, CATS and Postural Stability. You will be part of a large, dynamic multidisciplinary team which includes MSK Physiotherapists, Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioners, Occupational Therapists, Podiatrists, GPs with special interest in Pain and Rheumatology, Consultant Rheumatologists, Psychologists, Hand therapists and Rehabilitation Therapists. The integrated service design allows clinicians to work together to deliver seamless and evidence-based care for patients and enables inter-disciplinary learning.
We deliver our services out of a number of different hub site clinics and GP practices across Herts Valley localities. This encompasses Dacorum, Hertsmere, Watford and Three Rivers and St Albans and Harpenden. There is the expectation that you will be flexible to the needs of the service and you may be based out of a couple of different locations within your working week.
We also operate out of a number of community gym settings in the locality and can provide bespoke and supervised rehab programmes within a fully equipped gym environment, allowing patients to transition seamlessly on discharge.
