About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to be the lead psychological therapist within an interdisciplinary pain team. You will provide leadership, line management and supervision to other psychological therapists within the service. In addition, you will provide specialist psychological assessments, formulations and interventions as part of an interdisciplinary pain team, to individuals, groups and via ehealth.
You will use your knowledge, experience and brilliant skills to provide advice and consultation on psychological aspects of pain management to other health professionals and to advance students and colleagues knowledge and practice of psychological theories and principles. You will proactively develop and promote a positive and dynamic image and culture and will be key in fostering productive relationships with key stakeholders such as IAPT service providers, patients and the public.
You will be a HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist and will have experience of working within a physical health setting delivering individual and group interventions, You will have good knowledge of the current evidence base in relation to psychological approaches to pain management. We are particularly keen to recruit an enthusiastic and high calibre candidate with expertise in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Connect Health have a Pain Special Interest Group, a National Lead for Pain and are currently embarking on a transformational programme called Everest.
Our service in Herts Valley
Our Herts Valley service is a fully integrated MSK service that provides a single-point of access for NHS patients enabling a seamless and efficient patient journey. As part of our integrated community pathway we deliver community Physiotherapy, Pain, Podiatry, Rheumatology, Hands, CATS and Postural Stability. You will be part of a large, dynamic multidisciplinary team which includes MSK Physiotherapists, Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioners, Occupational Therapists, Podiatrists, GPs with special interest in Pain and Rheumatology, Consultant Rheumatologists, Psychologists, Hand therapists and Rehabilitation Therapists. The integrated service design allows clinicians to work together to deliver seamless and evidence-based care for patients and enables inter-disciplinary learning.
We deliver our services out of a number of different hub site clinics and GP practices across Herts Valley localities. This encompasses Dacorum, Hertsmere, Watford and Three Rivers and St Albans and Harpenden. There is the expectation that you will be flexible to the needs of the service and you may be based out of a couple of different locations within your working week. We also operate out of a number of community gym settings in the locality and can provide bespoke and supervised rehab programmes within a fully equipped gym environment, allowing patients to transition seamlessly on discharge.
